A Pkmn Story: Chapter 12 - Aerodactyl

A Pokemon Story

Chapter 12
Aerodactyl

The icy Froslass-lady came out of Chris’ pokeball and swirled around for a while, then touched the ground in an elegant manner and smiled playfully, waving its scarf to its opponent. Espeon made a step forward, knowing it was meant to battle alongside her partner for Chris.

The girl smiled.
‘We never even got to know each other properly. My name is Rebecca and I saw that Azelf first.’
Chris let the Azelf out of his arms and it hovered down to its legs, where it hid behind him.
‘Seriously, you bore me. It’s because of you that I came out here at this time of day, seeking for something that apparently doesn’t exist, and now you’re getting on my nerves with your stupid attitude. You’ve still got time to flee this battle.’
‘You have to be kidding me, please tell me so’ she replied. ‘Your cutie-pie pokemon won’t even stand a chance against my dessert-colossus! Garchomp, use Earthquake! Aerodactyl, Rockslide that Froslass!’
The Aerodactyl, being the fastest between the pokemon, hit the area with a schockwave from its wings, rocks started falling on both of Chris’ pokemon but he didn’t even flinch.
‘Rock is powerful against ice; your Froslass shouldn’t even have survived that!’

Chris grinned. Her Garchomp was getting ready to attack by accelerating itself into the sky and falling to the ground with immense prowess and speed.
‘Froslass, Ice Beam.’ he almost whispered. A bright flash of light escaped from the rock pile and hit the Garchomp while it was still in mid-air, freezing it completely, making it fall to the ground inelegantly and ineffectively moretheless. The Earthquake attack was blocked successfully.
Rebecca just stared towards her fainted Garchomp, large ice parts still shattering around it.
‘My Froslass is wearing a focus sash, allowing it to survive any instant k.o. attack aiming at it.’
Froslass appeared out of the rock pile, seemingly wounded but still intact. It almost looked like it had an evil smile painted across its cute little face. Its breath was crystallizing the air around it as it had cooled down extremely to shoot that ice beam into the gigantic dragon.
‘Espeon, blast that cocky Aerodactyl away!’
Rebecca gasped in horror, as her pokemon was thrown onto her fainted dragon by Espeon’s psychic powers. It still managed to escape fainting, or worse, and hardly made its way up in the air again, confused by the surprising hit.
‘As you see, you’re one hit away from losing this battle. You may or may not be able to hit one of my pokemon, but the other one is still going to drag you down to your last health points. Better give up now to preserve the last bits of dignity you still have left on you.’
Rebecca looked around, obviously anxious by her losing control of the battle just like that. She started jumping around in anger, waving her arms up and down, screaming stuff Chris didn’t understand. The situation had gotten very puzzling, him not knowing what had gotten into her at all.
‘You little… Aerodactyl, crunch that Azelf to death!’ she yelled, and her pokemon immediately reacted flying over the not-so-well-hidden Azelf that was still waiting behind Chris. Chris, obviously shocked by her weird and perfunctory mindset, was unable to counter her attack, and just in the last seconds before the Azelf was going to be crushed inside that prehistoric monsters mouth, his Froslass shot instinctively another ice beam towards the flying relic. Aerodactyl was dislodged and hit the crevice behind it, falling down to the ground, unable to move any further.

‘You son of a-‘ Rebecca started swearing and threw an empty pokeball towards the agitated Azelf. The pokeball, which was meant to catch it, or better, to try to catch it, hit the pokemon and fell aside. No reaction. No sucking in, no fancy colours, nothing.
‘You can’t catch that Azelf, you know.’ Chris said quickly.
Rebecca just stared at the still empty pokeball, to Azelf and then to Chris’ direction.
‘It’s yours, isn’t it?’ she replied calmly.
‘It’s mine, yes. Sorry if it got you into any…trouble.’

The sarcastic answer he gave her wasn’t worth her time probably. She returned her pokemon back to their pokeballs and run away.
